Walkthrough checklist

Hooray! It’s Closing Day! Follow this checklist to ensure your new home is ready for you.

AT THE WALKTRHOUGH

  • Run the hot water

  • Flush the toilet(s)

  • Ensure that all fixtures, blinds and appliances conveying with the home are present

  • Check to make sure no unwanted items have been left behind

  • If applicable, ensure that negotiated repairs are complete

  • Work with your REALTOR® to make a plan for accessing the property once the deed is recorded

ITEMS TO COLLECT ON/BEFORE CLOSING

  • All available keys

  • Mailbox key and box number (if applicable)

  • Garage door openers access / code(s)

  • Alarm system information

GOING ON RECORD: Once you sign the closing documents, they must be recorded to make it official! Typically, the closing attorney will notify you when the deed is on record. You can also search the Registry of Deeds website at www.MassLandRecords.com

DON’T FORGET: To avoid service interruptions, don’t forget to call utility providers with a transfer request effective the day of closing.
