Buyer FAQ’s

Are there things I can do to make my offer more competitive?

Yes. Having your pre-approval ready to go gives you an advantage so you can hit the ground running! Your Realtor® will advise on ways to make the individual terms of your offer highly compelling, while at the same time maintaining strong protection for you.

Are there ways to find listings that aren’t being traditionally marketed?

Yes. Your Realtor® can help you locate off market listings such as “For Sale By Owner”, new construction, “coming soon” and foreclosures.

What if I’m required to sign in at a public open house?

Open house attendees are usually required to sign in and indicate whether they are working with a Realtor®. If you don’t wish to be placed on a contact list, you may instruct updates to be directed to your Realtor®.

What do I do if I find a property I’d like to tour?

Contact your Realtor® to set up a showing and see if there’s any additional information or disclosures available. Remember, the groundwork for a successful negotiation is established even before the first showing so you should direct all communications through your Realtor®.

What should I do at a drive by preview?

Driving to the property can help you assess neighborhood characteristics, commuting and traffic conditions at certain times of day, proximity to neighboring homes and businesses and potential nuisance factors that could impact resale. (Note: never walk around a yard or drive up a private driveway unless you have permission.)

What if I see an house come on the market but it’s For Sale By Owner?

Owners who decide to represent themselves are prepared to work directly with buyer’s agents. If you see a FSBO listing, contact your Realtor® to set up an appointment.

What happens once I find “the one”?

If you feel that a property is offer-worthy, you should notify your Realtor® immediately. Your Realtor® will help you evaluate market value, review available public records and seller disclosure documents and advise on offer strategy. Once you sign an offer, your Realtor® will present it to the seller side and manage all negotiations.
